Although our star rating for our Fairfield, NJ location is only 2 Stars, our positive Yelp reviews outrank our negative Yelp reviews 8 to 1! So what’s going on here? Why is Ned Stevens’ star rating so low on Yelp?
The 18 Recommended Reviews and 2 Star Rating currently shown on our Yelp page is the result of a super complicated algorithm Yelp has created to ensure that spam and fake reviews are kept off of its platform. The algorithm favors consumers who are active members of the Yelp Community and penalizes consumers who are less active or who have written reviews that are sparse on detail. Filtered reviews are referred to as “Not Recommended Reviews” on Yelp and although these reviews are not weighted in a business’ star rating, potential customers can still view them online. Simply click on the “Not Currently Recommended” link at the bottom left hand side of a Yelp listing in order to view the reviews that have fallen victim to Yelp’s algorithm.
There is more than meets the eye when it comes to Ned Stevens’ star rating. Perhaps the most glaring issue is that 74% of Ned Stevens reviews have been filtered by Yelp and therefore are not factored into its overall score. As a result, Ned Stevens would like to give a few shout outs to some of its unsung reviewers.
