Sprucing Up Your Space: The Living Room

Living rooms are the places we spend a significant portion of our time. If yours needs an update, check out these tips for sprucing up your space.

Hang a Collection

Try mixing and matching different framed pictures, mirrors and other wall art for an interesting and eclectic collection on your wall.

Feature Fresh Flowers

Nothing brightens a space quite like fresh flowers. While the coffee table is always a great spot for them, you could feature them on the fireplace mantle, the window sill or media center.

Adjust the Area Rug

A rug can add drama to a room. If you love your current rug, try moving it to a different area or at a different angle for a better look.

Lighten Up

Lamps don’t just provide an added layer of style. They can also give much-needed light to a darker room.

Pick Your Paints

Paint can make all the difference in the world. Choose colors that best fit your lifestyle. If you enjoy watching movies, choose a darker color that will help the space feel like a theater.

Amp Up the Hardware

Do the knobs on your drawer or cabinets need an update? Change those out for fresh looking furniture.

Reuse and Recycle

Take a look around your home and find the pieces that would make a better statement in your living room. Break out the books for an interesting display or hang a large mirror from your bedroom to give the illusion of more space.

Look for Beauty

Everything is beautiful in its own way, and it’s our job to find that beauty. Take a look at your passions. Do you love skateboarding or surfing? Display your favorite boards on the wall. Do you have a collection? Display your favorite cowboy boots, old book or stamp collection.

Good luck sprucing up your living room!
