Ready for an excellent picnic? These tips will help you make an ordinary picnic into a memorable experience!

When was the last time you were on a picnic? Be honest! If you’re anything like us, it’s probably been a while. But you don’t have to lose the last hours of summer to another Netflix marathon – show your loved ones you care with something different! Planning the perfect picnic doesn’t have to be a hassle, and it’s a great excuse to stop and enjoy the day. So what are you waiting for?

Hop off the couch, dust off those Cheetos and follow these four tips for an unforgettable picnic.

Success Is in the Preparation
You may have heard luck is in the preparation. However, the key to picnic preparation is to organize it like a party, since the last thing you want is to sit down and realize you forgot something. The easiest way to prevent this unfortunate situation is to plan everything from your food to your location.

When you prepare for a picnic, you must prepare for your environment. Think about who is coming to the picnic and what type of place suits the group best. Parks, zoos and beaches are great places for the family. Know what you want to eat, know where you want to eat it, and how you will prepare it beforehand. Don’t forget to plan for bad weather too!

Beat the Heat
Here’s a pro tip: Cold foods taste better cold! Stuff your cooler with ice chunks rather than cubes – the larger, the better. Ice chunks will take longer to melt and reduce the chance of soggy sandwiches, especially if your picnic is an all-day affair. If you’re opting for a shorter picnic, insulated bags can be an easier way to transport your food and still keep it just right.

Ditch the Technology
Sometimes technology can be more of a hindrance than a convenience. This is especially true during an intimate summer picnic. The best way to enjoy a picnic is to live in the moment —not on your phone. Yes there may be picture opportunities, but remember the thousands of other pictures on your smartphone. Stay connected by giving your loved ones your undivided attention today. Trust us; they won’t forget it.

Savor the Moment
There’s nothing better than watching the sunset while snacking on your favorite foods. Savor the moment as the sun dips below the horizon, take in the colors, and enjoy spending time with your favorite people.

As your summer winds down, look for ways to make a memorable picnic experience.

How was your last picnic? From mediocre to magical, take a moment to share your experiences below.
