Whether you are prepping your home for sale or just looking to increase the value, curb appeal has a huge impact on how your home is perceived. Think about it. What is the first thing you notice about a home? Is it the front door, the yard or just the overall look of the exterior? All of these factors work together to create the best appearance to viewers.
So what can you do to make the exterior of your home more appealing (than every other house on the block)? We have a list of six bold tips to help you get started. Plus, they are all fairly inexpensive. Bonus!
Gorgeous Gardens

Great landscaping can go a long way in making your home look more polished and inviting. Start by adding some color to your flowerbeds and shaping up the bushes. Manicure the grass, and clean up the walkways to your house. You could add new tile stepping stones or lay down tiny pebble gravel to your walkways as well.
Bold Numbers

Take your address up a notch by adding bold numbers to the front of your home. This update can be an easy DIY weekend project and will add a fresh, yet classy touch to the entrance of your home. Plus, no one will mistake your home for another address.
Front Door Updates

The front door is indisputably the first thing people notice when visiting your home, so you need to have a great one. Whether you choose daring and vibrant with a bright red, traditional with a heavy wood, or modern and sleek with a metal option, updating your front door is an essential element in your exterior home improvement. Just be sure to choose one that reflects your personality.
Mailbox Makeover

While it might not seem like an important factor, mailboxes make an impression. Don’t just have a regular old mailbox. Try planting a few seasonal flowers at the base of your mailbox, or upgrade the entire box for a newer and prettier version. You could also add bold numbers to your box. (Here’s a great how-to guide for you!) Maybe your new mailbox area will make getting those bills out of your box a little bit better (then again, they are bills, so probably not).
Outdoor Lighting

While we devoted an entire article to this point, we have to mention it again. Outdoor lighting is essential to a beautiful exterior. Light the pathways to your door with solar lamps. Add hanging lanterns to your garden. You might even want to add an extra light by your door to illuminate those new bold address numbers.
Soft Wash

While this option isn’t quite as glamorous as the others, soft washing (the process of cleaning your roof with eco-friendly biodegradable solutions) can drastically change the appearance of your home. This option is safer and yields better results than hard pressure washing. While we definitely recommend pressure washing for concrete porches and driveways, soft washing the exterior of your home will preserve the life of your roof and siding and provide a cleaner and more visually appealing product.
