FLEX SEAL Does Not Seal Gutters

Per Consumer Reports, a heavily advertised adhesive product called FLEX SEAL can prevent a boat from sinking — but it won’t seal a gutter’s seams.  Despite the product being advertised as an “easy to use spray that coats, seals and protects rain gutters from water leakage,” FLEX SEAL WILL NOT seal your gutters.

The main reason is because the adhesive is being applied to a used, dirty surface.  As such, it will not bind or stick to the gutter’s exterior.

Additionally, FLEX SEAL is being placed over existing sealant, causing the FLEX SEAL adhesive to create air pockets that allow water to seep in, and the adhesive to peel.
