It’s good to have your heating system checked once a year. What better time than right before you will actually need to use it? Hire a professional to come out right before cold weather starts to ensure your system is functioning properly.
Check and Clean Fireplace
Have a professional check and clean your fireplace to ensure there are no hazards or damage. Having a nest at the top of the chimney could lead to dangerous conditions if you unknowingly light your fireplace before removing it.
Change Air Filters
You should change your air filters every few months. Fall is a great time to change your filter. Plus, a clean filter will help keep your family healthier during fall and winter.
Check for Drafts
Check the seals and caulking around your windows to ensure they’re in good condition. Leaks can not only make your home colder, they can also make your electric bills rise substantially during the fall and winter months.
Install Storm Windows
If you live in a home with removable screen or an area that requires them, fall is the right time to install your storm windows.

During colder weather, we are constantly heating our homes. This increases the risk of house fires. Be sure to check your fire extinguisher to ensure it is properly functioning.

Like we stated above, colder weather means the use of heaters and fireplaces. It’s important to ensure your smoke and other detectors are working properly during these months.

Cooler weather also means the days are shorter. Having outdoor lighting, like lanterns along the walkways and paths, as well as spotlights near the garage, are essential in the fall and winter months.
Check and Clean Gutters
