Gutter Guards do not work. We know it because we see it every single day. Every system ever tested by Ned Stevens has failed. We understand the attraction to the belief that you can install a system on your home that will “prevent gutter cleaning forever;” however, those fancy little screens, helmets, shields, shells, louvers, gloves, sponges, brushes, and cute robots DO NOT work.
Take a look at a few gutters Ned Stevens was contracted to clean. All gutters pictured are decked out with gutter guards that come with a lifetime “no-clog” guarantee. However, due to the severity of the clogs as well as their tight fastening to the house, the experts at Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning® were unable to clean these systems.
Please note that the pictures shown are completely authentic. These photos were taken by Ned Stevens crews on their mobile, hand-held computers, of actual gutters they were hired to clean.
1. Solid Cover, Bull-Nose Guards
These gutter guards are permanently fixed to the gutter. This product comes with a “never clog” warranty “for life.” It looks like someone needs to get his/her money back…
2. Screens
Take a look at the lower left corner of this picture and you will see collapsed screens. Screens last a short amount of time as they bend, warp, and collapse over time. Additionally, small debris will always permeate screens, clogging your gutters. Relying on screens is extremely dangerous as they will certainly fail over time.
3. Gutter Sponge
This product is designed to let water through the “sponge” and into the gutter, stopping debris from entering the gutter. However, what happens when all the debris simply lies on top of the sponge? … I think you get the point.
This gutter guard was designed to let water in, while keeping debris out. You can see why this design fails immediately; all the debris gets caught in the grooves that are meant for the water!
This picture shows a gutter “brush” that is placed in the gutter, promising to keep debris out while letting water in. Again, the problem is that debris gets caught in the bristles of the brush. Once the debris starts to accumulate, it does not stop. The result is a gutter system that is guaranteed to fail.
What should you do? Just leave your gutters open and clean them on a regular schedule. It will save you thousands of dollars and will be the easiest and best solution for gutter maintenance. Check out our service plans and let the professionals at Ned Stevens do the work!
